Museu Nacional da República, a cultural institution managed by theDepartment of Culture and Creative Economy of the Brazilian Federal District, is pleased to present the exhibition ‘Nurturing Spheres’, the firstolo exhibition by the artist Janet Vollebregt in Brazil.

Through the eyes of Janet Vollebregt, the MUSEUM is transformed into a living body in search and in the process of healing. The artist’s work involves oriental alternative medicine, such as Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese), a technique that proposes to restore the body’s vital energy flows through touch, and Feng Shui (Chinese), used to improve the energyof environments, combined with elements of Brazilian nature – metals, stones and crystals – in a mystical approach to architecture and the natural environment.

The exhibition brings together a new set of more than thirty works, including sculptures, paintings and interactive installations, designed specifically for the MUSEUM building and its public square. The exhibition has been planned for some time, since the most serious period of social distancing imposed on us by the coronavirus pandemic and which we can now present as a way to nourish our hope for a cure and for better times of coexistence. Apart from the mysticism, the workof Janet Vollebregt has a strong aesthetic appeal, resulting in interactive works that invite the public to sensitivity, attention, care and welcoming.

The MUSEUM is grateful for the good energy and beauty of Janet Vollebregt’s works and for the opportunity to share this show with the public in Brasilia.
